Dating 101

When I launched this blog, I promised to give updates on my journey to finding The One
So here goes...

1. I have tried quite a few (4) dating apps and have had little to no success with most of them. Bumble, Ok Cupid, and Hinge were all free apps and I didn't feel like anyone there wanted anything more than just a hook up. So I tried a 6 month trail of Match. Although there were still some sleazy guys on there, for the most part, I started connecting with people that I had enough interest in to at least go on a date with.

2. I've gone on about 8 or so dates that never led to seconds. And I'm okay with that. Each date made me more and more comfortable with idea of online dating and helped ease the awkwardness of the first encounter.

A few things I've learned so far:

Take time to be alone. I tried to jump back into dating way too soon after my break up and it didn't end well. I wasn't ready at all. It is important to learn to love yourself first and be okay on your own before trying to settle down again.

Go with your gut. If something feels wrong, it probably is. Don't feel bad about cutting a date short or even cancelling altogether. You don't owe this person anything! I know it sounds awful but if you aren't 100% comfortable, don't go.

Don't be too trusting. Especially if you're online dating! You literally don't know the person from a hole in the wall. So always meet in a public place and let a friend know where you're going and at what time. Someone should always know where you are!

Say yes to a date even if don't think you are 100% interested. Because you never know! He could be The One.
